Here’s our first tomato of the season.
Also this past week, we harvested the first cucumber, the first raspberries, the first plums, and the first squash blossoms. (My husband stuffs them with a tasty sausage and mushroom concoction, then deep fries them oil so smoking hot that it almost sets off the fire alarm. When delicate things are fried at that temperature, they come out crisp and almost grease free.)
And, this is the first year that the reality of my flower boxes have matched the mental image of what I was aiming for.
Finally, this past week saw my first panic attack over whether I’m going to make my September deadline for the 2011 book. Keep your fingers crossed!
