Craquelure

This beautiful painting, "Madonna and Child" (circa 1320-1330), is by Segna di Bonaventura and is in the permanent collection of the North Carolina Museum of Art. It was the inspiration for one of the paintings in Fugitive Colors, the last Sigrid Harald, NYPD, novel. To celebrate the museum's fiftieth anniversary, various North Carolina writers were asked to pick a painting and write a response, I decided to use my research in a further piece of fiction.
