When cleaning up the grounds for a major party this past weekend (which is why this post is late), I came across this egg shell. As big as it is, I thought at first it was a crow, but my bird book says that crow eggs are dull green. This one is buff-colored with squiggly black ink marks that remind me of a Jackson Pollock painting. The interior is white. Judging from the shape I found, an intact egg might well be two inches long.
Any birders out there? Would really like to know what’s lurking in our tree tops.
